It's astounding what you can find in a soggy cardboard box in an old warehouse full of junk. With three dollars, I purchased a cardboard box full of assorted photographs just out of pure curiosity. Inside I found a variety of black and white photographs, post cards, and prints dating back to around the early to late 1900's. Almost of the contents of this box are photographs or post cards, which aren't always that interesting. However, I did find a very peculiar 4x6 photograph in the box.
My first thought when seeing this image was, "It's the Titanic." After some further research and a Google Image search, I still have not been able to figure out whether or not this is the Titanic. The Titanic was built in Belfast in 1909 and featured four large smokestacks. This image is obviously zoomed in on the passenger liner. Besides only seeing one smokestack in this image, it is spot on when compared to an image of the Titanic. The Titanic is either known for the very well known movie or its collision with an iceberg killing nearly 1,800 people. Whether this image is of the Titanic or not I find it very interesting.
If you are into movies featuring televisions biggest mobs and gangs, then you have most likely seen the movie GoodFellas. Growing up in a household where the Oceans movies, GoodFellas, and many others were played repeatedly, I was ecstatic over my next big find in this box of wonders. Inside was an autographed black and white print of Tony Darrow (still alive today), one of the major cast members in the movie GoodFellas.
The moral of this article is to prove that you shouldn't be afraid of dusty, random places full of very cool stuff. Explore where curiosity takes you and find some interesting junk.
