The movie we never thought would see the light of day, the movie that took 13 years to create, is finally out. “Finding Nemo,” was the childhood movie of millions of children and adults today but its sequel “Finding Dory” hit theaters in the beginning of July and gave everyone a bit of nostalgia while giving new generations some characters to love. With a solid $730 million in the box office to date and a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, it is no surprise “Finding Dory,” has swum into the hearts of everyone.
In case you’ve been living in the middle of the ocean with no idea what the hype is about, “Finding Dory,” follows Dory, a blue tang fish with short-term memory loss, searching the ocean for her parents in order to find where she belongs, all the while she’s being searched for by Marlin and Nemo, clownfish father and son. Dory finds friends, old and new, and learns what family really means, and it’s a cute and emotional movie taking place after the events of “Finding Nemo”—released in 2003. Thirteen years ago we found Nemo and all these years later, Dory keeps swimming until she finds her family.
Some familiar faces appealed to “Finding Nemo,” crowds while maintaining its familiar and beautiful animation style. The movies impressive scenery coloring painted the perfect picture of a vibrant undersea life. Its lovable characters are easy to bond over and are diverse enough to be relatable to massive groups of people. Although the movie is overall great, it was another goodbye to a childhood franchise that our generation grew up with. The movie didn’t have aged characters we grew up with, like Pixar’s latest “Toy Story” but it was a bon voyage to those we saw as kids. It’s all around a great family film with wonderfully colorful animation and great lessons on never giving up and what family really means.
