Happiness is a funny thing.

Full Definition of happiness:

a : a state of well-being and contentment : joy
b : a pleasurable or satisfying experience

Your mind is associated with feelings while you body is associated with emotions. Although their both interrelated in a way, your body is simply responding to your feelings by using emotions. Kind of a ‘every action has a reaction’ situation.

Sometimes we constantly try to achieve happiness and this can be unhealthy because as much as I wish this world was full of lollipops and rainbows… it’s not. The reality of it is that we were meant to have other feelings besides happiness. Every person seeks to be happy in different ways and sometimes this can destroy us. From my experience I’ve seen people around me try to get happy from a variety of things; another person, social media, drugs, money, food, the gym, shopping, their personal looks, etc. While some of these are healthy, many people struggle with the unhealthy ways to make your body experience ‘happiness’. It can be a scary thing. Honestly, it just takes experience to learn what truly makes you happy in life. Find at least 3 things that make you happy and live through them until you no longer need anything to hold onto… it just comes naturally.

One of my favorite sayings is, “You have to love yourself first before you can fully love someone else”. Whenever that person leaves, you’re going to be devastated. It’s not a feeling I would wish on anyone. I feel like a numerous amount of women (including myself at times) struggle with this. You don’t need a man or friends to make you feel better. Do something you love to take your mind off the negative situation. LIVE FOR YOU AND LOVE YOURSELF LADIES!

Happiness was created to go along with the average quality of life. Anything extra only complicates things.

A few things that will help you be genuinely happy:

  1. Live in the present-Yes, the future is important to think about from time to time but don’t dwell on it so much that you’re not paying attention to what’s in front of you.
  2. Laugh until you feel like you’re getting abs-This releases endorphins and reduces stress. Sometimes you may even stop and think to yourself, “Wow it felt great to laugh like that”.
  3. Don’t worry, be happy-Humans engage in worry and doubt on a daily basis. Why worry about something you can’t change?
  4. Be involved in Community Service– Helping others is the best stress reliever! When life gets bad, always remember someone out there has it worse than you. Share your wealth and happiness with others that need it. It’s an amazing feeling when we all come together as a community to accomplish something great.
  5. Be optimistic– Choose positivity throughout your day. No matter what the situation is, you can make the best of it!

Life can be tough sometimes, but so are you! I hope this post finds you with a smile on your face. Have an awesome day full of joy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
