Don't Forget To Put Yourself First

It should come as no shock that everyone in the world is busy. But when it comes to being a college student, sometime busy can go to a whole new level. You rush around all semester long, from class to class, activity to activity, and sometimes it never seems to end. You wait all year long for the sweet relief of summer only to realize that summer is equally busy, and being an adult just flat out sucks. Well to an extent that is. And sometimes we get so busy that things start to slip through the cracks. It can be that book you've been reading, that phone call you keep forgetting to make, and sometimes we just forget ourselves.

Forgetting yourself is single-handedly the worst and easiest thing to do in this day and age. We are all so consumed with material things. Money, objects, relationships that don't work, technology. Here are some simple ways to make time for yourself.

1. Read A Book

Whether it's a classic or a new release, books have a way of taking you out of your daily life and creating a new world to get lost in.

2. Take A Bath

Baths are easily one of the most relaxing things on the planet. Equally they offer the best solution in spending time alone.

3. Travel

Traveling, whether it be solo or with someone you care about is a great way to escape your everyday life and live in adventure.

4. Disconnect

Take a day to simply not respond to anyone unless it is an emergency situation. Not being glued to your phone can do a lot for your sanity.

5. Work out

While this doesn't really strike people as a way of destressing, it actually is a great way to kickstart your mind and body and will trigger chemicals to make you a happier person.

6. Binge Watch A Show

There is absolutely nothing wrong with spending a Friday or Saturday night on your couch alone. Who said 8 straight hours of Game of Thrones wasn't therapeutic?

7. Treat Yourself To Something Nice

It can be a fancy meal or even that item you've had in your online shopping cart for two months, but make sure to reward yourself every now and then.

8. Grooming and Pampering

Most people nowadays try to do most grooming and pampering at home to save money, but sometimes going to a salon for professional help is a great way to relax and boost your confidence!

9. Purge Things In Your Life

Cleaning out a closet, deleting old emails or photos, or even cutting out toxic people from your life is a great way to create more time for yourself in the long run.

10. Just Do What Makes YOU Happy

Nobody in the world can dictate what makes you happy besides yourself so make it a point in your everyday life to make choices that help you reach your own personal happiness.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
