I vividly remember asking my Mom when I was in fourth or fifth grade, "what is a best friend?" to which my Mom responded with, "Someone who has been your friend through it all." While I do still agree with her to this day, throughout the years I have compiled many other indicators that determine whether I've found my best friend.
