Life is stressful, to put it in the simplest of terms. At some point you will be anxious and stressed because of something that's happening right then and there.
Life is stressful, not easy, but hard. Some days may be easier than others or some may be more difficult to get through. Whether that is your job, your relationship, your family, your health, your finances, your livelihood, whatever it may be, it can cause you stress at times. Over bearing at times or almost non-existent at other times. Stress is something we have to cope with. And now this is where the problem lies.
Many people resort to things that will numb them, only for a short time such as drugs, or alcohol. Those items and objects are a fuel, they fuel the problem of stress that's already there because they are temporary and life isn't. Life can be long and voluptuous, that is if you find a way to handle life and its stressors.
You have to find solace. Find peace, not at the bottom of a wine bottle, not in that little white pill or the green leaves you can inhale. Find actual solace in something specific to you, something that no drug, upper or downer may ever be able to supply.
Find solace in the night sky, in the stars that rest above us every night. Find solace in the way the trees dance to the rhythm of the wind. Find solace in yoga, and the way it creates you to feel calm but empowered.
Find solace in the music you produce, the way singing makes you feel free. Find solace in the art you create, the stroke of the brush against the canvas, the spray cans weight within your grasp, the yarn or knitting between your nimble fingers.
Find solace in long drives on nice days, the wind at your face. The way you feel like you're flying when on your motorcycle, how the rumble drowns out everything that was bugging you. Find solace in the way hitting the punching bag makes you feel strong, allows you to feel independent and sturdy against what life throws at you.
Or even find solace in the person next to you, to the one whose sleepy eyes and messy hair still makes you crack a smile at the break of dawn. Find solace in your family members, in the way they smile and laugh, the way your mom gingerly touches your arm as a sign of love and caring.
Find solace, that peace, both inner or outer. Find the healthier version of it to be able to endure life; unlike drugs or alcohol, life has an everlasting affect. It's temporarily in the meaning of hours or days, but lasting in many years.
Your life does not need to fly by, with the stressors controlling it.
Learn to cope, strengthen, and endure what life has to throw at you, and do so with finding your own solace and peace, inner or outer.
