This poem came from a recent decision to go full force with my life and find what is true to myself. Instead of settling for less. I feel as we grow our decisions can be greatly influenced by others. We go in different directions in our lives that sometimes isn't the best for us. My greatest worry is wasting time. Through my transition from high school to college I lost all my friends due to the fact that I felt they were wasting time. I have learned a lot through rebuilding myself to be honest. Not always easy. We all don't get where we want to be with the same formula. It takes a little trial and error to guide us. Though none of it would have been possible if I never pushed myself to be a greater version of myself. As well as continuing to push myself.
In the river you flow with a presence known
In the river it's shown the shame you outgrow
In the river you bleed the things you not need
In the river you see pictures of good deeds
In the river you stay and let it wash your spirit
In the river it guides you to a path well lit
The river is your life and the way you tread earth
You can listen to it or follow someone else's river
