The Struggle Of Finding A New Job

It's not as easy as it seems.

Recently, I decided to move closer to school. I decided to leave my old job because the hour each way commute is why I moved in the first place. Anyway, silly me thought it would be all easy-peasy to find a new job. Yeah, welcome to week 3 of unemployment. Alas, I did find a job that I'm going to love! Here's the story of how I got there:

1. Filling out all the job applications suck.

But really, this was painful and SO time consuming.

2. Answering calls from random numbers.

I typically don't answer a call if I don't know the number. If it's important, they can leave a message. But I don't have my potential employers numbers in my phone yet, so I've talked to a lot of telemarketers this week.

3. Scheduling your life around interviews.

I've missed SO many classes lately, there's no way my professors think I'm still doing interviews.

4. The second interview, and the third, just to have it not work out.

Another time consuming aspect.
"We want to offer you a position in our telemarketing section instead!"
"Um, no."
For me, I turned down several jobs so it was a giant waste of time.

5. The dwindling bank account.

It's so easy to spend money, but normally I get a paycheck to replenish my account. Yeah, not lately.

6. The boredom.

I feel like I have NOTHING to do.

7. The “is this what it’s going to be like after I graduate?”

Lord, help us all if it's this hard to find a "real" job.

8. The “congrats” call

It's hard to describe the feeling when you get a call from your top choice and they offer you a position.

9. The training/being the new and slow employee

Awk.

10. When the pay is back, it’s all OK

Get it, girl.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
