To continue on with my journey of finding the best ice cream in New York, I took a trip down to the heart of historic New York Chinatown where I tried the famous 10Below!
This Thai-inspired shop serves up delicious ice cream rolls made fresh and to order for each customer, turning their fresh liquid cream and ingredients into the desert in less than 2 minutes.
How do they do this you say? 10Below uses "an advanced cold plate that reaches temperatures well below -10°F, the ice cream produces smaller ice molecules to make it naturally smoother and creamier, eliminating the need to add in additional fat and emulsifiers to create the same rich, creamy texture we love in ice cream."
This is a GIF of my ice cream being made 😋😋The little square shop had a line out the door when I went, but the wait was definitely worth it. The favors and toppings that are available at that time are written on a chalkboard above a few of the mixing stations.
I got a Strawberry Shawty (Strawberry, Graham Crackers) and added strawberries, blackberries and Nilla Wafers on top - all toppings are free if they fit in the cup! Best of all, this amazing desert was only $7!
So how would I rate this Ice Cream:
Experience: 5/5 The shop was small and the line was long, but the inside design on black chalkboard paint, and the buzz of ice creaming being made right in front of you is 💯💯💯
Price: 4/5 Now $7 does not beat the $3 ube from last week, but it really is not a bad price for what you get! There was a lot of ice cream in my cup and one of my friends couldn't even finish hers. For $7 and a great experience, this is a must visit if you're in New York.
Flavor: 5/5 The Strawberry Shawty with the free toppings was so yummy and flavor packed. The actual ice cream was so smooth and creamy as a result of their Thai-style and I would happily return here if I'm ever near by.
