Country music goes hand in hand with love songs. I grew up listening to country music; all kinds of country music dating back to Conway Twitty and Johnny Cash. Over the 19 years that I've been listening to country music, the genre has evolved from singing about trains, mama, and trucks to successful relationships as well as the dread of seeing an ex around town. So many songs talk about love in both a positive and negative fashion, causing the listeners to think about what message the song is relaying to them personally.
I'm a firm believer in waiting to find Mr. Right and to spend the rest of eternity with a single man, but quite frankly it feels as if this ideal is becoming more difficult to come across. There are fewer and fewer relationships that appear to be successful, and I feel as if country music provides me with the hope I need to find my Mr. Right. I'm a sucker for listening to songs where artists sing about a girl making them lose their mind and where a guy can't sleep without the girl of their dreams sleeping next to them.
However, I stop and evaluate my own life after listening to country love songs. Yep, still no boyfriend, yep, still love country love songs, yep, still waiting. There's nothing wrong with being single, and there's nothing wrong with waiting, but due to my almost obsessive state over country music love songs I have developed an unreasonably high expectation for how a man should act and how they should respect a lady thanks to countless love songs.
Johnny Cash was a man that worshipped his wife, June Carter, even before they were married. Joey and Rory sang about their everlasting love for each other, and Joey's memory is still being honored to this day after passing away from cancer. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are a timeless couple that only continue to show what everlasting love looks like.
A younger version of this timeless couple, is Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, who are known worldwide for their playful love and the adoption of their daughter, Willa. If any individual ever finds themselves having a bad day or even sees themselves beginning to think more frequently that there's no chance of finding love; then I highly recommend you listen to any country love song and you will quickly find your hope restored. Country music is the best genre when it comes to dealing with people trying to reconnect with their roots and rediscover themselves.
