Finding Him In The Waiting

How God's heart is a part of our waiting.

Finding Him In The Waiting

Waiting sucks. Seriously, it brings on anger, frustration, time wasted, bad moods, and so much more. No one likes waiting for the doctor, waiting in line at stores, waiting to get on a ride, or anything else you can think of. Then there's the big things. Waiting to hear back if you got the job you wanted. Waiting for the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with. Waiting for the child that you want to add to your family.

Waiting is inevitable. But what if we are looking at waiting in the wrong way?

I love articles that pop up on Facebook. I seriously read/skim through majority of the ones I see. One that I read was talking about how a girl waited for the man of her dreams. She fell in love with her best friend, but before they fell in love there was a season of waiting. There was one sentence though that stuck with me from that article...

"There's a piece of His heart to be found in the waiting."

I read it, and then read it again. Whoa. I've heard people say you're "waiting time" is like time in the "wilderness." It is a time when you are searching and seeking, and you find more of God. You find His love, mercy, and grace like you haven't ever experienced before during your waiting period. But to find a piece of His heart? Now that weighs heavy piece of wisdom.

I think there are multiple reasons why there's a piece of His heart to be found in the waiting. I think one reason is because when we are waiting we are actively seeking Him and His plan for us. We are wanting to find Him, to find out why we are waiting, and when we want to find Him, He finds us.

However, I think there is a bigger reason we find a piece of Him in our waiting. He waited. We find His heart in our waiting, because He waited and still today waits. When Jesus became man and came to earth, He waited 33 years for God's plan to unfold and to die on the cross and rise again. He waited to die for our sins so that we could be made new. He waited three days to rise again, so that His death could be proven true, but God's righteousness could be shown through His resurrection. God waited for His Son to return to Him after His plan was completed. They both waited.

And still today God is waiting. He is waiting for all hearts to turn to Him and worship His holy name. He is waiting for the day that we will be eternally with Him in Heaven. He is waiting. He is waiting on you and me.

So, when we wait we find Him and He finds us. When we wait we know that we are not alone, because yes He is always with us, but more importantly- He is waiting too. There's a piece of His heart to be found in the waiting, because His heart is waiting.

If you find yourself in this waiting stage of life- be glad. Be glad that you are finding a piece of your Father that you can carry with you. Be joyful in your waiting. Pursue God in your waiting. After all, His heart is found in the waiting.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
