One of my favorite lines from How I Met Your Mother: “Hi. I’m Ted Mosby. In exactly forty-five days from now, you and I are gonna meet. And we’re gonna fall in love.
And we’re gonna get married, and… we’re gonna have two kids. And we’re gonna love them and each other so much. All of that is forty-five days away. But I’m here now, I guess, because I want those extra forty-five days. With you, I want each one of them.
And if I can’t have them, I’ll take the forty-five seconds it takes before your boyfriend shows up and punches me in my face. Because… I love you. I’m always gonna love you. ‘Til the end of my days, and beyond.” I know we are not suppose to rush life, but the thought of meeting your partner earlier so that you will have a longer life with them is just memorizing.
When Ted uttered those words in the seventh season of HIMYM, I started crying because of how much this little speech reflected my own thought process and feelings.I have come close to dating plenty of girls, but in the end I feel like I am wasting time or they feel like it will not work with me either.
I guess my endless pursuit of finding this one girl is overwhelming to most, but I figure to this one girl…I will be her one guy. So to my future wife: I cannot wait to start my life with you. So yeah, I am a freshman in college and I want to be married.
