Have you ever considered there could be good in bad things? As humans, it isn't our first response to throw our arms up and praise God for bringing something bad into our lives. If we are honest with ourselves then we know most of us probably point our fingers at God and yell at him for allowing whatever has happened to happen. We are probably all guilty of blaming God at some point in our lives. Everyone goes through something in their life where they find themselves asking, "Why me?" or they think, "This kind of stuff isn't supposed to happen to me." We have these thoughts because we don't understand. The point isn't for us to understand though. God knows why, and that is all that matters. The problem is we'd like to have the map in our hands. We want to be able to look at it in our hands and see what is up ahead. God needs to be the captain of our lives when we sail through troubling seas. We need to praise God in the storm.
The statement "praise God in the storm" is short, yet powerful. How many times do we only praise God for the good things? Why do we only look for God in the good times? He is aways present, especailly in the bad times. Sometimes it's as if God's presence is stronger in the bad times than it is in the good times because we have to depend on him. It's as if we think God only uses the good times to bring His name glory. I believe we think this because good times happen at that moment. Sometimes it takes a while longer to see how God is working in the bad times.
We don't know what each day holds. So this leaves us with nothing else to do but to lean on God. He is the one that knows what our day holds. God knows certain events will test us, and they will push us to our edge. Sometimes God uses these events to force us closer to him. It's okay to question why something happens to you, but don't question whether God will get glory from it. He will get the glory in His time. The whole point of praising God in the storm is because we are saying He is present, and we know His glory will shine even in the darkest time. So praise Him after the storm, before the storm and during the storm.
