Finding Your Center

How do you get grounded?

The world we live in is hectic, non stop, and fast paced. There will be times when you will need to step back and find your center, get yourself grounded. From exercising to blaring music so loud you can't think, here are some ways to find your center.

Sleep.

The sad reality is that your problems will still be there when you wake up, but taking time to relax from them is always okay. A small nap, or an entire day focused on rest can change your mindset and have you feeling refreshed. Sleep is a key element to a healthy life that we often put at a low priority.

Exercise.

Healthy body, healthy mind, right? I'm not saying you have to complete P90X, but a run or walk through the trails will open your mind. A workout can leave you feeling happier due to the chemicals your body releases. I'm all for something that will leave me not only feeling but but potentially looking better as well.

Yoga.

I'm sure yoga can qualify as exercise as well, but to me it is much more than that. Yoga is about connecting your mind, body, and soul. During your practice dismiss thought about your hectic life and focus on grounding yourself being thankful for the body you have and your abilities.

Music.

It doesn't matter if you are playing, singing, or listening, music is good for the soul. Find songs that fit your situation and realize you are not alone in this world. Use music to calm yourself with tracks of oceans, or a soft melody. Also don't be afraid to drive around blaring your favorite songs, singing along to every word letting the stress be released.

Prayer.

Pray to the Lord for forgiveness, for your wants, needs, and always for thankfulness. In a hurtful world many lose sight of our always forgiving God. Remember in every aspect and situation the Lord loves you. You are a handpicked creation of an almighty maker, you can change the world with a Holy Trinity right by your side.

There are many other outlets and ways to find your center in an ever changing environment, but I hope these lead you in the right direction. Don't be afraid to try something new. Keep your head up and your body grounded, my friends.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
