Everyone has gone through a phase some time in college where they have felt so lonely that even surrounding themselves with people, they still feel so alone. It's hard when you have family miles away and you are shoved onto a college campus to get an education and meet people. The only problem is that yes, you're getting an education, but you aren't meeting people and you can't make friends.
You feel like everyone around you doesn't care to want to be your friend. You walk around campus making eye contact with people only for them to look away or direct their eyes to their phone. You've made small talk with the one girl in your biology class but you don't think she's interested enough to want to hang out with you. You're standing in line to get food and see the group of three friends in front of you laughing and talking and only wanting to know what they're talking about or even just wanting to feel included.

You make these assumptions that no one really wants to be your friend and you begin to get anxious. You don't want to spend the rest of your 4 years in college not having friends or making any memories. You start panicking. You imagine all the people around you going out and hanging out with their group of friends, and all you can do is just imagine yourself with them.
We've all hit a spot like this before. Where we feel like we have no one around us. We feel like no one really wants to be our friend.
It will never end like this.
The girl in your biology class actually does want to be your friend. She's too shy to ask if you want to hang out and she's been waiting for you to ask.
The group of three friends standing in front of you in line ended up talking about how cute your outfit was and how they wished they would've said something to you.
Don't underestimate the people around you. You make up a whole different scenario in your head and you're thinking of the worst it can be. Be bold enough to say something. Be bold enough to ask to hang out. Be bold enough to ask if you can tag along. Be bold enough to talk to strangers who you want as a friend in your life.

Loneliness will not last forever. You will find your people. It might not be today but it might be tomorrow, next month, or in 3 months. It might've been a few days ago but you just don't know it yet.
Don't be afraid that you will stay alone forever, because you won't. There are people out there wanting to be your friend. Everyone in college is looking for a friend. Stop panicking because everything will turn out okay, no matter how much you think it won't.
College is all about making lifelong friends, and you will find those eventually. Good things in life sometimes take some patience. You will find your people.
