With a new school year rapidly approaching, everyone is in the process of setting fresh new goals. Getting better grades, making new friends, joining a club, getting more involved on campus, or just bettering yourself in general, are just a few of the common goals of students. What’s a great and smart way to somehow bundle up and accomplish all these goals at once? Join one of the amazing a sororities our great university has to offer.
Now, before you toss this article aside because you don’t think fraternity or sorority life is for you, let's talk about the future and what you are doing after you graduate. We will all be headed out in the great big world going in to interviews and sending our resumes all across the country to all the jobs that or degree makes us applicable for. Wouldn’t you want to turn in a résumé with copious amounts of charity work, group organizations, clubs and, not to mention, many honorable grades? Sororities and fraternities push you to be the best you can be so you can go where you want to go.
My best friend's grand-big just got a fabulous job at UPS because of her outstanding achievement throughout her years in college. The woman interviewing her happened to be an alumni of that very same sorority. They were able to share laughs and the assurance that they were part of a group that went above the expectation, not only as collegiate members, but into their adult lives, as well.
Am I saying that you are going to be interviewed by someone who formally wore your letters in college? No, but what I am trying to say is you have a great opportunity to gain a lot of connections and meet many people who can help you get to where you want to be. Hopefully, you are starting to see that joining a fraternity or sorority isn’t just for yourself. It’s about joining a larger group of men and women who genuinely care and fight for a better future. Isn’t that why we are all in college to begin with? A better future?
My sorority became my home away from home, the place I find comfort every day. These are the women I run to when I need a friend, when I need a neck to hug or a shoulder to cry on. These are the women I can call to share times of laughter, success and triumph. These are the ladies who love me so much they push me to study over those notes one last time so I ace my test, who push me at the gym so I am healthier, and help me smile each day so I can be a stronger woman. They push me in ways that if you look at them individually, they seem minor. All together, it is them helping me find myself and to become exceptional.
