Find a Boy Who Respects you

Life tip #54

“Respect yourself, and others will respect you”

In this day and age, finding friends is hard. Finding the boy you may spend the rest of your life with is even harder. We are constantly compared to other girls around us, models in the magazines, or even the actresses that are on every tv show and movie out there. We try to be like the other girls; we try to dress a certain way, keep up with the latest fashion, and even act like a different person to get the boys to notice us. The thing is though, we shouldn’t have to be like the rest of the girls… we should be different and boys should see that.

Don’t just find a random boy. Don’t find a boy who calls you “hot” instead of “beautiful”. Don’t find a boy who calls you only at midnight. Don’t find the boy who ghosts on you every 3 days. Find a boy who respects you. If you find a boy who respects you, then you found a boy who cares about you so much more than just the superficial label.

If a boy says he respects you, it means so much more than a boy calling you “hot”. It means that they genuinely like you; even if it just as a friend. It means that they are interested in what you have to say, interested in your life, interested in you as a person.

However, do not let a boy say he respects you but yet walks all over you. If a boy truly respects you then they will show it. It’s easy to talk the talk, but harder to walk the walk. If he truly respects you, then you will know it. Guys think that they can get away with so much because we as girls let them. Girls, we have to put up our walls to keep the bad guys out. THE GOOD GUYS WILL CLIMB THEIR WAY UP.

Respect is not just a word said, it is a word shown. It is shown in big ways, in small ways, in extravagant ways, and even the most simplistic ways. However, we also have to earn respect. We must value ourselves, because if we don’t it easy to walk on.

Boys will always try to find the easy route to take; it’s a common fact (sorry guys). Especially at this age, when they are still exploring what they want and questioning what they want to do. They are in this stage of decisions and new possibilities so some of them do not want to add the complication of settling down. However, for the guys that do, that’s who you want to be with. Yeah, it will be hard, and sometimes seem impossible. Yet it will be so rewarding in the end.

So next time you a boy walks into your life, make sure he respects you. Make sure he shows your respect before you let him in, that way you can be on the tract of finding your forever with a boy who truly cares.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
