I sat at my sewing machine, hunched over, on the verge of tears yet also filled with excitement, waiting for my Baja Blast from Taco Bell to kick in. Somehow I was still alive after seven days had passed and the most I had slept in a night was two hours. Healthy, right? Not at all, and both that and the fact that caffeine wasn't even working anymore were the reasons I could not wait for finals week to be over.
I started to think of the only alone time I had to relax had in the past week and realized that it was whenever I had time to eat and watch mukbangs while doing so. If you aren't aware, YouTube is a mukbang heaven—holding countless videos of people eating a lot of food and talking to the camera.
As Trisha Paytas is absolutely iconic, and one of my favorite people to ever exist, I would order her exact order from Taco Bell and sit for twenty minutes to eat as I watched her eat Taco Bell as well. As this was all I had time to do besides design, I did not take these mukbangs for granted and spent the entire week ordering Taco Bell. Once again, not healthy at all, but also, it was finals week.
I walked into my first day of work a few days ago and realized that my exhaustion from finals week had most definitely caught up to me. As I entered the store and walked straight towards the mirror as I knew I would be greeting people all day, I learned quickly that my eye bags were not looking the cutest—in fact, I looked like I was deteriorating.
With my McCafe coffee in my hand (which is absolutely amazing, by the way), I started to laugh as I knew the coffee would not help my exhaustion at all. All I needed was sleep.
Somehow finals week always manages to leave me with exhaustion that takes forever to catch up on. As I walked around during my first day back to work, I did end up realizing that the weeks of exhaustion, tests, and countless projects that felt like they would never end really ended up paying off.
The morning of my final project presentation I began thanking my Red Bull as I knew it was the only thing that would be getting me through my fashion critique and felt blessed at the fact I made it through finals week. After the critique (which thankfully went very well!)
I was taking pictures of my final project before I had to leave for winter break, and had to leave my project for my teacher to grade it. While doing so, I could feel my tired eyes and overly exhausted body light up some, as I understood what my crazy schedule had produced. And I am beyond proud of it.
Finals week is absolutely crazy, and although I am now on winter break and have not caught up on my schedule at all, I can confidently say that it was all worth it. Ta-ta finals!
