Finals week is here and things are already getting crazy. If you're like me, you have a test or essay due nearly every day this week and spring break is seeming farther and farther away. But finals week doesn't have to be full of scrambling to finish assignments, stress crying, and thoughts of dropping out. There are ways to make this week as easy for yourself as possible without compromising your grades! Do some (or all) of these things and I guarantee this finals week will be a breeze.

1. Make a list!.

OK yeah, this might be totally obvious but it's worth mentioning! Lists make things 100x easier because you can keep track of everything you need to do in one place. Plus, the feeling of accomplishment when you check something off is euphoric. I'd suggest making a list of everything you need to do at the beginning of finals week and working off of it until you're done!

2. Prioritize.

Figuring out what is most important for you to work on is sure to help cut back on stress this week. Writing a big paper should be a higher priority than studying for that test you're already confident you're going to ace. Get the hard stuff out of the way as soon as you can so you're not rushing.

3. Don't procrastinate.

Easier said than done, I know. I'm definitely guilty of waiting until the last minute to do something. But I can guarantee you'll thank yourself if you just get up and get it done. There's so much less stress that way.

4. Make sure your place is stocked with food.

Go to the grocery store and stock up on your favorite snacks, some meals for the week, and some fruits and veggies. Being well-fed will keep you better focused when you're studying and working on your finals.

5. Find your *perfect* study spot.

The library doesn't work for everyone. Try to find somewhere without many distractions, somewhere that will help you stay focused! Maybe it's a place on campus or your living room or maybe it's a nice spot outside! Whatever works for you.

6. Treat yourself!

Pick up your favorite kind of candy, spend a couple hours watching a movie, get some takeout, or go out with friends — whatever makes you feel happy and taken care of, do it!

7. Ask your professors for help when you need it.

Seriously, it's what they're there for. If you're having trouble with something, go to them for some help. Chances are, they'll be happy to see a student working hard and reaching out to them for assistance!

8. Make a study group.

It's a good way to work out concepts and ideas from the class you're not 100% on, and if you find the right group of people, they'll keep you on task and working hard.

9. Get plenty of sleep.

A solid eight hours and you're good. Getting the sleep you need will make it easier to stay focused on what you're studying and give you the energy you need to work hard! Even though it might be challenging to get the full eight hours, it's good for you and will help in the long run.

10. Stock up on your caffeine of choice!

We all need a little (or a lot of) caffeine during finals week. Whether it's coffee, tea, or soda, chances are it will keep you energized and awake like you need.

11. Get some fresh air.

Chances are, you've been stuck inside studying and working on homework all week. Take some time to go outside and get some fresh air, even if it's just for a few minutes.

12. Make time to be active.

Getting your blood pumping and your heart racing will do you some good! Maybe take a hike or visit your campus gym — whatever you need to do to get some activity in!

13. Comfort yourself with the fact that spring break is almost here.

You're so close to the break you've been working toward! Push through this last week and prepare for spring break!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
