There's a common belief that English majors have it "easy." Sure, we only have one or two exams during finals week. But that's because we have a very different task on our hands: term papers. Lots and lots of term papers -- and oh yeah, revisions. Coming from someone who was once a marketing major, finals week still really sucks for us English majors, too.
1. Finals week really means term papers week
It's just as bad, if not worse -- trust me.
2. Rushing to catch up with all of the readings you missed
You can't do it all when every one of your teachers assigns fifteen chapters.
3. And eventually resorting to Spark Notes
I confess, but who doesn't use Spark Notes?
4. Our books now have coffee stains all over them
It's necessary.
5. The thesaurus is our best friend
I can't even count how many times the thesaurus has saved me.
6. Revisions
Just when you think you're done looking at a paper...
7. Suddenly typos are a thing
Somehow I've managed to completely forget language and can't spell anything.
8. Never feeling satisfied with any of our papers
But it always ends up with a better grade than we think.
9. The library is our home
It's where we belong.
10. Having to learn MLA 8th edition formatting
Why was the 8th edition necessary? We do not know.
11. Racking our brain for paper topics
It's actually the easiest part (yet for some reason, still difficult).
12. Getting stuck on how to start our papers
Where do you even begin with a twelve page paper?
13. But once we get going, we really get going
The feeling of finally getting somewhere is oh so good.
14. And getting no sleep because of it
Holding on to the fact that it will all be over soon.
