By now, I'm sure you've seen or at least heard of the Netflix series Stranger Things, which came out a few months ago-- one of the rare blessings 2016 gave us.
In case you aren't familiar with the plot of the show, it's about a group of kids growing up in a small town in the 1980s, where people are trying to solve the mystery of another dimension into which people from the town keep disappearing. Bordering perfectly between suspenseful and creepy, with mixed elements of sci-fi, thriller and horror, this show is very entertaining in that it's both humorous and keeps you on the edge of your seat, and will easily hook the attention of even the most anti-Netflix-binge person.
If you haven't seen Stranger Things yet, finals time is right around the corner-- which gives you a perfect excuse to take a break from (or procrastinate) studying and watch it! So far there is only one season with eight episodes, so you can breeze through it fairly quickly. One thing you might notice about it is how relatable the characters, particularly the kids, really are-- especially when it comes to describing finals week (and just college life in general). So here are a few moments from Stranger Things that I think capture the sentiments of the end-of-semester struggle perfectly.
1. When you're going crazy running on 2 hours of sleep due to having 3 papers, 2 presentations, and an exam due all on the same day and no one understands you.
2. When that one professor is getting on your last nerve and you really want to insult them.
3. When you just don't want to deal with the stress anymore.
4. Your resting bitch face as you walk into an exam.
5. "Oh, you're stressed? You seem pretty calm to me."
6. When you aren't a morning person and have a 9 a.m. exam.
...NOT for overworking our brains.
7. When you just want to turn around and leave a final as soon as you've showed up to it.
8. When your stress eating has gone to a new level.
9. The speed at which you want to run away from your responsibilities.
10. You and your friends awkwardly comforting each other and bonding through your mutual stress.
Good luck on finals, everyone! You can do it. If you ever doubt how strong you are: remember that on a scale of 1-10, your strength would be an 11!
