Finals Week, As Told By "Inside Out"

It's almost summer. You can practically taste the freedom permeating the air. You're almost there! But first there's finals week. It's like the Hunger Games, only 10 times worse because people shoot you with tests instead of arrows. It's the week when campus is dead, everyone looks like a zombie, and seeing people break down is a normal sight on your way to class. What better way to describe finals week than "Inside Out," a movie about feelings for the feelings you're going to experience when you realize life as you know it is about to end.

1. You still have hope.

You poor child. You think you'll escape finals week unscathed. You've even given some motivational speeches to your friends, I bet. The thing is, you see, that you've just been avoiding thinking about your upcoming finals. When you finally get around to studying, you're going to lose every ounce of hope you've ever had. Have fun.

2. You look at the test material.

You wonder how so much material could fit on just one test. It's more than any human being has a right to know, and you're expected to learn it all in a few nights? Good luck, young one.

3. You watch as your dreams fade away.

Silly you, thinking that you'd be able to get an 'A' in that one class. With every second that passes, your chances of passing get smaller and smaller. You start to wonder why you didn't drop this class when you had the chance.

4. Your professors schedule all your exams on the same day.

How are you supposed to study for four finals at the same time? There's no way you can possibly learn all of that material! Too bad your professors don't care. They're probably laughing at the hopeless look in your eyes.

5. You start to wonder why you even decided to come to college.

You didn't sign up for this torture. Can you just leave and get a refund on all the money you've spent ? Maybe you can just find a rich person to marry and fly away from all your problems.

6. Someone saves the day.

Whether it be with the perfect study guide or just a cup of coffee when you needed it most, you can count on at least one person coming to your rescue during finals week. Try to thank them if you're able to still form complete sentences at this point.

7. You see everyone finishing their finals.

Why is everyone leaving for summer? Why are your friends going to the beach without you? You still have two finals to take, and it's hard to stay motivated when your Instagram feed is filled with pictures of people being happy. But it's fine. You're fine. Life's fine.

8. You pull an all-nighter.

You know you should have started studying sooner, but you can't help that now. All you can do is chug three gallons of coffee and stare at your notes until they make sense. Sometimes that takes all night. You might look like a crazy person, but that doesn't matter. At least you're studying, yeah?

9. Wearing normal clothes is optional.

You start going to class in clothes that could easily pass as pajamas. In fact, you probably did sleep in them or maybe wore them yesterday. Who cares? It's finals week, not "Project Runway."

10. Your friends try to get you to go out.

It's finals week. Why does everyone throw parties when your grade literally depends on you passing your final?! Your friends insist on dragging you to the nearest party because they think you need to take a break. Maybe you do, but that doesn't matter. You need to pass your final more.

11. You have a breakdown.

It happens. One too many cups of coffee, a few nights without sleep, and a ton of tests to study for can break even the sanest of individuals. Have your breakdown, and hopefully you'll a little better afterwards.

12. You go to take your last final.

You're almost free, but all you can think about is the Scantron in your backpack. You're almost positive the professor is going to make this test harder than it should be, and you're not really sure if you actually learned the material or tricked yourself into thinking you did.

13. You turn in your last final.

You may have failed, but at this point you don't care anymore. You're just ready to leave, so you pack up all of your stuff and ignore that grade. You'll worry about that some other time, but for now it's time to focus on summer.

14. You're free!

You did it! You're done, and now you can go home and relax. No more college for three months! More importantly, no more finals. Celebrate with some friends because you, my friend, are a true champion.
