It is that time of year again, the week that all college students dread about. The library becomes all of sudden full, the sleep decreases, the studying increases, and the only thing in your system is coffee and some Red Bull. The week that separates study time and vacation time, finals week. Here are a couple tips and tricks to help you get through these finals.

1. Put your phone down!

The biggest distraction happens to be in the pal of your hand. People tend to forget about studying and concentrate on less important matters such as Instagram or Twitter. Two minutes on your phone can easily turn into two hours. Put that phone down for a couple hours, and you will see major improvements in your studying habits.

2. Take breaks.

No, I'm not talking about nap time, but quick 15 minutes break in between your studying material. Grab a snack, do easy and quick exercises, meditate, or watch a little television. Just remember to keep it short because you have to get back to studying!

3. Find a study buddy.

Studying with someone else can be really helpful. Here's the catch, they have to be reliable, not too distracting, and will help you stay on track. Having someone else there will help you in the long run because people who study in groups tend to make better grades than those who study alone.

4. Get out of the house.

Yes, finally an excuse to get out of the house! If you're at home studying, you tend to get distracted by others, chores that need to be done, or even falling asleep because your bed is so comfy. Being in the library or Starbucks will really help you concentrate on studying.

5. Sleep!

The way our brains store long term memories is by sleeping, so in order to retain this information better, you must get a goods night rest. Do not pull all nighters; study ahead of time in order to avoid those. Skip out on those Netflix shows and get some rest.

6. Find your learning style.

From flash cards, to practice exams, to watching educational videos, or even writing your notes over and over again, everyone has their own unique style of learning that helps you. You can try different study methods in order to find your learning style.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about.
