As the semester comes to a close, we all have stress. We all have worries. But I promise you, you will get through this. We all worry about the same things. We want to make grades, have a good GPA and stay on our professor’s good side.

Whether you’re a freshman like me or a senior that is graduating in a few days. We all struggle. It’s how we handle that stress is what stays with us. Some go out on weekends and party, some watch movies or TV, others hangout with friends. I’ve done all. It’s hard looking back on our semesters and see something good during this time of year.

I’ve done some reflecting in the very little spear time I’ve had, and I was reminded of how much good came out of this semester. I learned more about myself. I came out of my shell. I met amazing people. I made incredible memories. Sure every semester has its ups and its downs. I lost a few friends. I’ve gotten sick. I messed up here and there. Tears were shed. That doesn’t have to be a sad thing, though. I learned more about myself during those times.

I’m like every college student. I’m ready to go home. I’m ready to start working. I’m ready to not have to worry about papers, tests, and if I’m going to pass a class. I’m ready to see friends and family I haven’t seen in five months. After a summer break, I’m sure I’ll be ready to come back. We all will have to be. This is what we spend thousands of dollars on, so we can get a degree, and allow us to be successful later on. We all have to suck it up a little bit more. It will all be worth it in the end. We will have the memories, and be able to say we made it. I keep telling myself it’s almost over. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Every semester has their own individual struggles.

So for the next few days or weeks, keep your head in the game. Do what you can to make grades but also de-stress a little. A lot of college students forget to de-stress. It may help you in your final if you’re going in relaxed and calm instead of nervous and anxious. That does not mean, don’t study. It means to allow your mind to relax and remind yourself that there is an end. Watch a movie, play video games, read a book, or hang out with friends. Do what you need. And may the odds be ever in your favor.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
