Finals week is here, and it is officially crunch time.
You know that one time you skipped class because you just were not feeling it? This is the week where every minute in those classroom seats starts to count for something, in my case about twenty percent of my grades. Remember the days you could exempt your middle school exams if you had a good enough class average?
Yeah, me too.
At least we have the cast of The Office here to humor us along the seemingly never-ending journey that is finals week.
1. Reading Day
Unfortunately, reading day gives us a whole day off classes to focus on studying for our finals. However, the reality is in Charleston, a nice trip to the beach or never leaving bed.
2. When you are about to start your first final and your professor hands them out without saying a word
I might be in college, but I still count on thorough instruction.
3. When the first three questions that you just skimmed look NOTHING like the study guide
Honestly, if I get a study guide from a professor in the first place, there is always that hope in the back of my mind that it will be the exam with minor differences.
4. When you are three finals deep, but you realize you still have two more between you and your summer.
We all know how this goes. Morale is low, but scores are about to be even lower if you don’t get your sh*t together.
5. Getting to your last final, looking around.
Everyone is in the same boat you are. Sure, there might be that one kid in each class that is still beaming with a desire to do well. The rest of us are here doing what it takes to get by.
6. Filling out your final name scantron on your last exam
Ok, seriously… the reason why half of the exams we have take as long as they do is because of having to bubble in each letter of our names. By exam four or five, I’ve truly had enough.
7. Walking out of your last final and reevaluating your study habits and general ambition to do well
We’ve all been there. Finals week comes with an endless supply of “maybe next times.”
8. Realizing finals are over, but now you have to return to your hometowns and the fun is over until next semester.
Don’t get me wrong, I cannot wait to be home. However, once you get used to life on campus, it makes it that much harder to leave… especially for three whole months.
