College gets hard there is no doubt about that but when you are consistently feeling alone, college can become overwhelming. With finals this week, all our emotions are running high. With holidays, finals and just all the regular stress of being a working college student my emotions have me all over the place. From stressed to excited and from excited to lonely. Sometimes I can’t keep up but here are some of my tricks to staying emotionally grounded through finals and for the holidays coming up:
Take a breath.
This may seem really obvious and simple but often we forget to take a step back and remember that this time in our life is only temporary and something we are worrying so much about today, may not even be a worry tomorrow.
Remember
Just remember why you are doing this? Why you want to succeed and why you will be okay?
React
With emotions running high react calmly. Think before you react whether it is at family Christmas and some member of the family keeps pushing your buttons or whether it's during finals week and your roommate wakes you up in the middle of the night. Try to stay calm and make a good decision for your own mental sanity.
Take time for yourself
Treat yourself!! Buy yourself a Christmas present, relax for a hot minute and reward yourself for all your hard work this year.
Lastly, this is the time of year to be thankful and grateful so be kind to others, be good to yourself and have a happy holidays.
