Hell Week and finals are always a stressful time for college students. I get through these weeks by taking a half an hour to an hour to watch my favorite show, "Bob's Burgers." Over the last two years of finals and Hell Weeks, I have slowly become more attached to the show as I often see things that I relate to on a personal level.
Without further ado, here are finals and Hell week told by the characters of "Bob's Burgers."
Let's get real... this is everyone right before we get hit with the mountains of work that all of our professors have waiting for us. We just finished with one Hell Week, so we are "livin' it up" and expecting everything to be A-OK... Wrong. This was me right up until the point when I realized that I not only had a lab report due the next day that I forgot about, but I also had to study for a practical exam and for another exam in a different class. We can say that we pretty much fall off the ski lift when this happens.
Sometimes, there are projects and extra curricular activities that need you to be involved 10000 percent. The solution to this is to get involved 10X more than they expect. Be Linda and wear the mask you made for a project while doing laundry. I did this when I found out I had to play a British character in a one act play. I would work out, eat, and talk in class with a British accent. "Bob's Burgers" showed me the commitment required to get the best results.
Even though Hell Week and finals don't hurt you physically, they can hurt you emotionally. I have had my fair share of mental breakdowns and moments where I couldn't stop laughing at how screwed I was. Gene showed me that weeks like these make me into a stronger person. I am getting better at typing essays in under an hour, cramming knowledge into my brain, and having it actually stick... for once! All of these stressful weeks help us prepare for the real world... scary!
This! This is me the minute all of my professors slap me across the face with the pile of work I have to do or with all of the material that is going to be on the final. Until I realize that my immense work load isn't the worst thing to happen in my life, I am Tina. I just lay at my desk and think about what could happen to make me not have to take a final or hand in an essay. Do you see Bob's face? That is the exact face my professors make at me when I die from all of the work. They feel no pity because they have to grade all of the crap I will be giving them. Oh well, at least I don't have to see it again after I hand it in.
No matter how rough the week is, it is completely worth it when you get a good grade on the assignments you worked so hard on. Getting the gold star and turning into one is something I look forward to whenever I am super confident about an assignment or test. Just by doing the work to the best of your ability, you are smarter than you were before, you have grown as a person, and you have made yourself better. That's why everyone who survives Hell Week and finals deserves an endless amount of gold stars... with Tina's face on them.
Good luck to everyone with finals and to everyone going through Hell Week!
