Imagine a woman, at the age of 31, that goes by the name of Amanda. She has a loving husband, named Jack, of now 3 years. Amanda and Jack met when Amanda moved to North Carolina to attend NC State, where they both graduated from. They have been trying to expand their family for over a year, with no luck.

Now, imagine another woman, at the age of 18, in her first semester of community college. Her name is Emily. Amanda and Emily have been friends for quite some time. Emily, because of Amanda even became quite close with Jack, They became friends by mere coincidence. They met because Emily did the pictures at Amanda’s wedding, and a bond was almost instantly formed.

Amanda and Emily met in the town of Bedford, where later in, they found out they both grew up. But, since Jack wanted to move back to North Carolina after the wedding Amanda and Emily would be torn apart. When Amanda told Emily of their upcoming move she was devastated. She was going to be torn away from her best friend. Of course, Emily understood why they were moving, and it is only about a six -hour drive, so she could visit whenever she was able.

One weekend about a year later, Emily decided to pay a visit to Amanda and Jack. Amanda told Emily the news that she and Jack have been unsuccessful on starting their own little, happy family. Emily was shocked by the news, and the only words she could mutter, is that she wishes she could do something to help. At this moment is when Amanda called Jack into the room. At the same time, Amanda and Jack asked Emily if she would be a surrogate for their baby.

Befuddled by this question all she could say was yes. Amanda and Jack were overjoyed by Emily’s answer. The three of them started planning right away. Emily was happy to do this service for her friends, but she is only 18-years-old and she is very worried. She expresses this worry to Amanda and Amanda ask her what she could possibly do to help ease her worry. Not knowing exactly what to ask for Emily asks if she could move in with them for the duration of the pregnancy, because she has been so lonely since Amanda and Jack moved away. Amanda is happy to let her move in. Not only that, but Amanda and Jack also pay Emily to carry their child. Best friends, reunited, again, at last.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
