On Letting Go In Life

A story about a broken girl made whole by her knight in shining armor.

So here’s a fun little story about a girl who got her heart run over by a lawnmower. Ever since then she took tape, hot glue, nails, a blow torch, cement, anything she could possibly find to try to make it whole again and to keep others out. She was sensitive, but not the kind of sensitive that was seen as weak. She was the kind that cared for others more than herself and shed tears when she was happy, sad, angry, scared, or hurt. She closed off her heart from the rest of the world because she was scared to get hurt again.

Then she sees him. This handsome, strong man that seems like he wouldn’t hurt a fly. He was sensitive, yet tough. Soft, yet strong. He was a pure romantic but hid that part of himself from others because he didn’t want people seeing that side of him. He saw her. And she made him soft at the heart.

She knew he could never hurt her. He was the kind of man that you couldn’t stay mad at for longer than an hour. And then they met. They became friends.

They fell in love.

They became inseparable.

Little did she know how important she was to him, even when they were just friends. He knew he could never lose her. It was one of those love stories that you watch on cheesy movies; the kind that makes you believe true love really does exist.

But it wasn’t exactly like that.

Yes, it was full of love, so full of passion for one another that either of them would die for one another. They were each other’s rock, their love, their home. But she had baggage that held her back from feeling those moods completely.

Her heart was like a diamond. Still shining for the love she had for him and others around her, but so hard and tough and unbreakable that even he couldn’t break into it.

Then he armored himself with the chest plate of love, the helmet of patience, the boots of durability, and the arm guards of acceptance and compassion. He was her knight in shining armor.

But she refused to believe that she deserved him, for her past was one that she was so ashamed of. But he understood. He knew what she had gone through had changed her, but it changed her for the better.

He didn’t have a lawnmower. He had duct tape and magical super glue.

He repaired her heart like he was building a new house. One full of love and support that he knew he could give her. She just had to see it.

It took months. Almost a year even. But one day she woke up and she wasn’t sad anymore. She didn’t feel like this black cloud followed her every move like it used to.

And then she saw him again, but this time it was different. This time he was glowing. Glowing and radiant with love and comfort. He was safe. He was familiar. He was her safe place and her home. He became the man that God put on this earth to sweep her off her feet and never let her fall; never let her feet touch the ground again. This ladies and gentleman is a true love story. One that is faithful and one that is supportive through all measures. Through thick and thin; through rain and sunshine.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
