Well, the election is finally over! I know some people are relieved for that, at least, including myself. I personally would like to congratulate both Trump and Clinton for the spectacular fights they've put on over the last few months in particular. There's been fights, debates, honor, even a little bloodshed. While some of these things are unacceptable morally, they do give credibility to a very interesting and heart-filled election!
I, personally, have supported Trump since his nomination in the primaries and I'm glad I did. I know a lot of people don't support him to this day, and in a way, I understand why. He certainly isn't winning any elections for the pope. But what I believe we have to realize is that we weren't voting for the pope, we were voting for someone who is strong and smart enough to lead this country to a better tomorrow. I personally believe that Trump is capable of this, and I've never believed that more than last night during his victory speech. His words were enough to really give me hope for our future and I don't think Trump has ever looked more presidential than he did that night.
Now, as for the disappointed Clinton supporters, I understand that this isn't the outcome you wanted for these past few months. The thing is, I understand that you saw the candidate differently, as someone who was fit to be our next president of the United States, or at the very least more fit than Trump. However, I don't believe that to this day, but I have to admit, Clinton made a good move congratulating Trump on his victory in a private phone call, and if that is true, my respect for her has gone up quite a bit. As for her supporters, I'm seeing a lot of people saying that they are going to leave the country because Trump got elected. I believe that is a worse move than not voting for anybody. We, as a country, need to be able to count on each other if we want to continue to be the strongest country in the world which we undoubtedly are. The country has been so divided and I believe when Trump says that he wants to "make America great again", he wants to unify us again. We are called the "United" States of America for a reason, and it isn't the president that does that, it's the people that make us "united." If Trump does well, we are going to want you around as America hits a new era in greatness, but if he doesn't do well, we're going to want you around to help us make sure that Trump knows about it and is prepared to make the necessary changes for the better of all of us as a nation. Leaving the country, in my opinion, is cowardly, and insulting the millions of Americans that helped put him in office is no better. You need to be mature enough to bring it upon yourself to accept the decision that the people of America have made. We're not stupid, but more people saw Donald Trump in a way that you didn't. I hope you can understand that and are willing to accept it, because that is how we keep our strength as a country, despite what the media wants to tell us. Thank you, and I wish all of us, Trump and Clinton supporters alike, a good day and good hopes for the next four years.
