How It Feels To Be Finishing Finals Week

We've made it to the finish line...almost.

How It Feels To Be Finishing Finals Week

It's that time of the year again. The library will be packed like never before with students preparing for finals week. Just a few more projects, exams, and papers, then we will be free to sit back and relax. Here's some final thoughts for finals week, because it seems to be such a stressful time period for many students.

Your Self-worth Is Far Greater Than Your GPA: I get it, I really do. You get all worked up about that final number so that maybe you'll graduate with honors, or high honors. We try vigorously each semester to get as many A's as we can, so that maybe we'll make the Dean's List. However, your self-worth is much more important than that final number or a piece of paper symbolizing you've made the Dean's List. You are far more valuable than your GPA. Don't beat yourself up simply because of a final number, or final letter grade.

Celebrate Small Victories: Celebrate making the Dean's List, celebrate getting that B from the most difficult class you've taken, celebrate your last final, or celebrate that you're graduating! At whatever chapter you're at in life, celebrate overcoming difficulties of the semester, and celebrate all of the hard work you've put in.

Reading Over Notes Helps: Even if it's a last minute effort before an exam, reviewing your notes has its advantages. Although it is important not to cram, life gets busy! I normally read over my notes a day or two before an exam, and then once again the morning of an exam, and it does help.

Praying For A Good Grade Doesn't Work, Praying For Peace Does: You can't pray for a good grade without putting in the effort, but you can pray that God would bring you peace. You can pray for a tranquil mind when studying, and that you may remain calm when presenting that final project.

Don't Forget To Treat Yourself: You take that bubble bath, go get that Starbucks drink you've been thinking about all day, get a massage or your nails done, go out with friends, go to the gym, take a walk to clear your mind. The point is, you need to take care of yourself because no one wants you to have a breakdown, okay?

Take time for yourself, set aside time to read over your notes or review that last big presentation you have coming up, and have confidence in yourself. You will treat yourself in some way, and you will celebrate your victories. Trust me, you will get through finals week.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
