Final Semester Goals List

Since it is my last semester at Saint Michael's College, here is what I wish to achieve in my final few months.

Final Semester Goals List

1.) Get Assignments Done in Advance.

I'm not an awful procrastinator, but I do usually put assignments off until it is closer to the due date. My goal for my final semester is to start working on projects when they are assigned and to try and have everything finished a couple of days in advance. That way I can alleviate stress and stay on top of my work for the semester.

2.) Work Hard, Play Hard

I want to put as much of my effort into assignments, essays, and projects as possible. Having everything done to the best of my ability and being able to produce work that I am proud of. Vice versa, I also want to spend more time with my friends and having fun with them. I did not get to do much of that this past semester due to the amount of work I had, but I want to make an even balance between work and fun for this final semester.

3.) Try Something New

It is my last semester at SMC and I really want to get involved with a club or try something that I've never done before. Whether it be an Adventure Sports Club winter trip, volunteering with a group on campus, or maybe just going somewhere new in Burlington, I want to be able to explore and adventure outside of my comfort zone.

4.) Read For Fun

This is one thing that I really miss in college. I usually only get to read books for fun during the summer when I'm not trying to keep up with assigned readings for class. My goal is to be able to read three books over the semester that aren't assigned and that are for enjoyment purposes only.

5.) Stay Healthy

I try to eat healthy and stick to some form of a workout schedule, but I want to make that plan more solid. I want to schedule time to workout every night and also do some better meal planning as to keep eating healthy. It is my last few months of a free gym so I really want to take advantage of that.

6.) Try to Plan for the Future

The future is this vast and unknown place for many seniors in college. I want to be able to have an idea of what I want to do after college. It may not be my dream career but having some idea for what the next year will hold for me will keep me from sleepless nights wondering what my next steps are.

7.) Enjoy My Time

This is the end of my college career and I really want to enjoy it. I will try my best to live in every moment and have as much fun as possible. You only get to live the full college experience once, so I'm going to try my best to make the most of it.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
