On Facebook, one of my friends shared a video that consisted of 365 one second videos; a video for every day of the year. Immediately, I fell head over heals for this idea and decided I would start the very next day. Soon, I realized this project was more trouble than it was worth.
I would take a one second video every day for the next two months. Some videos were as pointless as me eating crackers, my friends and I making s'mores on a Friday night, some of the beautiful campus, or even just me doing homework.
But soon, these videos started to become more and more difficult to do. Every time there was something I really wanted to include and get on video, I forgot. Then, I realized exactly why I kept forgetting to get a video of these events.
I was living in the moment. When I was at an event that I would love to capture on video, I was too busy enjoying the actual moment to think about pausing and trying to capture it on video. And the truth is: living in the moment is so much better than ruining it by pulling out your phone to take a picture or video of it. This project became a chore, something that I had to do everyday. This project was preventing me from living my life and every moment in it to it's fullest.
