Happy thoughts. A thing that seems like such a rarity. In a way, Peter Pan was right about happy thoughts.
There is a 2003 version of Peter Pan that is a live-action remake of the popular animated version. Peter Pan can fly, and he says it's because of happy thoughts, which is partially true. He has fairy dust to help him out. According to Peter Pan lore, the negative and sad thoughts bring you down, whereas the happy thoughts keep you afloat. In a way, that is true in the real world. Obviously, we don't have fairy dust, but in a way, happy thoughts do lift our spirits and the negative thoughts bring us down. If you wake up and choose to be happy, then your day can start off happier and brighter.
Where most people immediately fail is in not even being aware that they have a choice that they can make. When an event occurs, it does not make you react in a given way, whether you are aware of it or not, you choose to react in a certain way to that occurrence. If someone is offended, then we often hear the statement "that makes me so mad," or "that person makes me so mad". The true fact is you choose how you react to that occurrence, it does not choose for you. Two people having the same event perpetrated on themselves may react to it in different ways.
The range of reaction can go from a choice of violent rage all the way to a choice of laughter and humor depending on each person's chosen attitude. How you train your mindset will affect how you live and act each and every day. It's important to stay positive despite the apparent reality that things may not be so perfect. That is why it is important to surround yourself with positive people. The people in your life should make you be the best version of yourself and build you up rather than tear you down. You should also be that same person for them.
Since moving to a new state for college, I feel like I am practically starting life all over. I have to make new friends, which is hard. I think in a way it is good that making friends is hard. My reasoning is if it was hard to get that person to be your friend and you finally form that friendship, it makes that friendship stronger. With that stronger bond comes a stronger comfort because you know that they are truly there for you. Since you took the time to build a strong bond with them, you will have at the same time built trust with them.
When you face certain things in your life, whether good or bad, it will certainly highlight who is truly there for you. The rough part of making new friends is having to deal with the fact that it can take forever. In addition to that, you may go through periods of your life when you are facing the terrible feeling of loneliness. The positive aspect of making new friends is the fact that you have created a strong bond that will hopefully make you friends forever. I promise you it will happen. You will make friends. The important thing is to keep trying and be patient.
Try new ways to put yourself out there. Above all else, do not settle for less. There are people out there who are just waiting for your friendship, they just don't know it yet. If you already have a great group of friends surrounding you on a daily basis, well good job! You are very lucky. Try and keep those positive relationships intact because, in my opinion, friendship breakups can be much harder than a romantic relationship with someone. Making a friendship can be hard, but losing that friendship is quite easy.
