The word "sister" can be classified much deeper than blood. I wasn't born with a sister, but one was placed into my life. I've always had thoughts growing up on what it would be like having a female P.I.C. (partner in crime) around. Being the middle sibling and being the only girl, I grew up around hot wheels and wrestling. Never could one imagine having someone stroll into their ordinary world and change it. Once Jayde came, I knew we'd never let her go.

Back in high school I never had much friends. I was on dance team and pretty much thats all I had to lean on. Social media was something pretty much everyone had. Thats where you can be anyone you want to be, and post whatever you want to post. I had many acquaintances just from following others. One of my followers in particular is named Jayde Smiley.

Yes, my sister and I met on social media. Sounds crazy, I know. Anyways, here's our story.

When I wasn't dancing, I was playing Call of Duty with or without my brothers. One day on twitter I posted something along the lines of, " Who wants to kill some zombies on COD with me?" Luckily one of my followers happened to reply and say they were down. I've never been a shy person so this is pretty typical for me to invite a random person to be on my team in COD. Once we started playing, it ended up being a consistent thing. All it took was one simple text saying "COD" and it was on.

Jayde and I ended up getting really close just from playing video games together and it lead to our best friend-ship. Next thing you know, we were spending everyday together whether it was partying or relaxing. Our other best friends even ended up getting jealous because of how much time we were spending with each other. This lasted months before a crazy turn of events happened.

If your best friend texts you saying she has no place to go, what would you do? When that happened to me, my mother and I told her to come stay with us until things got sorted out. Her staying with us lasted longer than a couple of weeks so we made the decision to just move her into my bedroom, and I would switch rooms. To be honest, we adjusted to the transformation very quickly. It almost felt.. natural.

Months upon months upon months went by. Yeah, we would have occasional fights here and there. Being practically sisters at this point, we were over any argument within a few minutes. Jayde and I shared a car, shared money, and shared friends. Even if I wanted space from her, the only way I would get it would be by locking myself in my room. Jayde happened to not have a door for her room because we thought it would be funny to make a hole in it and sword fight through it (lol). She was/is my legit partner in crime that I've always wanted.

Years later, she's still my sister. We've been inseparable ever since we first started hanging out. We even lived with each other once we moved out of my mothers house. She's the person I call when times are rough, and the person I call when I have exciting news. She's the best thing that could have ever happened to me. We have our ups and downs, but she's family. Family is forever. Finding Jayde and Jayde finding us made my family complete. Here's to indefinite years of sisterhood, Jayde.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
