Go Figure!

For when your Netflix and Chill turns into a horror movie slam.. Figure is your go to man.

Here’s the deal… Figure is one of the heaviest hitters in dubstep culture. His mixes and mashes with the most well-known horror movies have skyrocketed him to the top of our hearts and to the peak level decibels our ears will be able to stand. Figure is the DJ you will turn to if your Netflix and Chill turns in to a horror movie smash. If you can’t handle the frights of horror movies then get out of the kitchen. Figure continues to cook up tasty and grimy beats ever since his first release of Monsters in 2012. He is well known for these frightful fears, but what he doesn’t show a whole lot is his exquisite taste for the hip hop arts. What makes an expert DJ is their ability to craft sets that turn a bumping house in to a banging room within any genre of music.

I first saw Figure at Excision’s Paradox Tour in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Three songs in I was like “woah, what the f*cking f*ck?? This is absolutely insane? Yes, Excision is one of the heaviest hitters, but here is the opener firing off some INSANE tracks that had the whole place raging like there is no tomorrow. No way he is dropping so much ham when we still have TWO FULL SETS of Bear Grillz followed by Excision. This was something that truly needed to have been seen and Figure is the absolute perfect match to bring the filthy beats that will satisfy your dirty rotten souls (no offense).

There is really not much else to say other than you need to see this guy live. He will be playing at 515 Alive Festival, UpNorth Music Festival, and Lost Lands Festival hosted by non-other than yours truly: Excision. He will be featured in Lost Lands (hyperlink) alongside a start studded cast. I could say similar things about bringing the filth with nearly all of the rest of the cast; but what truly differentiates Figure is his heavy drumstep patterns that sample the most terrifying horror movies, yet makes it super appealing in the tracks that drop these tasty dubstep rhythms. Just like there is only one Eminem, there is only one man that will take the best sound bites from our favorite movies, and mash them into a track that will have you bouncing and grooving just like you’re listening to the best of em’. You know: Excision, Bassnectar, Jauz, Borgore, Zomboy, Downlink, Space Laces, Herobust, and so many more. Yet he is truly a different animal. Check out where Figure will be playing closest to you and just f*cking GO!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
