Fighting The Big Fight

Never say quit; You can do it!

Fighting The Big Fight

Do you ever feel as if the weight of the world is buckling your knees with every step you take towards reaching a goal, an achievement or even so much as an accomplishment? Is it ever so bad that you give every ounce of your body's energy to the point of crumbling beneath the mental debris of agony, resulting in drowning in your own tears or worse? Guess what? It's life.

Deal with it or get dealt with.

You and only you alone can push past the force that is life's challenges, however do not expect for the thin air to work the magic for you. With a little bit of faith and strong iron will to reach the finish line of your vision, they say the sky's the limit but THEY lied. The Universe is your wide open playground for you to set your boundaries, but how far you are willing to stretch your arm out to achieve that succession, despite all challenges trying to bring you down, is what all counts at the end of the day.

Fair share of an example. For 20 plus years, my Mother battled on and off with the incredibly difficult tangle in pursuit of acquiring her Registered Nursing degree. Through such a long road of giving birth to me, raising me on her own with the combination of working several impressive, yet time consuming jobs, as well as taking the time out to attend classes on the way towards honing her craft, additional to giving birth to my little sister and raising her - the battle seemed to have had her beat.

As a handful of semesters of hardcore group studying with classmates, late night travels to and from class to deal with ignorant instructors and coming so close but not at 100 percent with succeeding countless semester attempts, it would have seemed the overbearing strain of agony would have bested her with the strength of the world crashing down her reality.

However, upholding a never-say-die mentality that she has held in her lifetime of her passionate endeavor, giving every ounce of endurance she had left on her final opportunity, she pulled through and managed to not only complete her courses successfully in obtaining her Registered Nurse degree but also was fortunate enough to witness her dream come alive.

A standard example to following your dreams falls well to the phrase,

Deal with it or get dealt with.

You either combat your struggles and you find your sunrise that lights up your world or you give in, defeated, empty and broken that you just could not bring the big fight to the challenge that stood in your way.

But one would also have to question,

"What if I've been holding on for so long, and so many pieces of the puzzle are completely out of control? Limited with what feels like little to no options. What do I do?"

This my friends, is where I offer you the hard pill to swallow, however it is the best remedy no matter what situation you find yourselves in and analyze that you are capable of exceeding your regular boundaries because,

IT. GETS. BETTER!

As you hold on, keep faith alive, fight harder, push often and tighten your grip on your passion. Nobody or nothing can break you or strip you of what you want the most out of this life, whether it be a life goal or a personal achievement that could lead to such.

For several months, a girl walked into my life that I could have not foresaw by a hundred miles, came along and turned my world upside down. Upon meeting in a peculiar environment, making conversation and stretching it along towards keeping contact, nothing could have prepared me for what the future has become since then. A beautiful gal who hails from the blazing deserts and canyons of Arizona, yet resides for educational purposes just right in my backyard, that is, New York City. It would have seemed things would fall in to place so swimmingly.

However. The road was not without conflict.

As clear as the pattern flows for one too many, it is never easy to uphold a personal connection with another from across the nation. Doubt seeps in, strength of the fire lit within the candle ignited teases it being extinguished quite often and the cautious thoughts at mind wander about the follow-up meeting of when a pair will return to each other.

A situation that proved no different from the rhyme, our road was sweet, but fell to a few bumps in along the way of a long nearly endless summer of feeling as if we'd never be able to experience what was brought upon at the top of the season.

HOLD ON - IT GETS BETTER!

A method of which we fought tooth and nail to apply for the better sake of any future becoming, applied effectively enough to where many months later from our incarnation of affection, we currently stand far apart no longer. Yet, instead, empowered, connected, together.

For all struggling with any balance in life, whether on a personal scale, or an educational standpoint, or simply having difficulty following your dreams/achieving your goals, do not give up. You are as strong as you believe you are and not a single source of matter in this life can restrict you from claiming the highest mountaintop.

Remember.
As long as you are willing to fight for it
- It always gets better.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
