Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, the premiere day of "Fifty Shades Darker," my boyfriend and I went to see it.
In August of 2016 I wrote an article expressing my thoughts on what I think will happen in "Fifty Shades Darker," and what we already knew was to occur. 'Fifty Shades Darker' And A Whole Lot Hotter was the name of the piece, and boy, did it fulfill that prediction!
"Fifty Shades Darker" is everything any fan could have wanted. It was a lot more storyline centralized. I will say that it does miss some parts from the book, but that's understandable since E.L. James always goes into such perverse sexualized detailing of every situation.
We see a lot more of Christian's past as well as how this new, changed man is affecting everything in Anastasia's life.
I know many critics are saying that it is an awful movie that is more along the lines of a failing soap opera, but I for one, as well as my boyfriend, truly loved it. I honestly thought that the sequel was better than the first one. In this one it was a lot more heartfelt, truthful, and open. It was as if both characters were finally at that point in their lives where their past is still haunting them, but they're willing to accept it.
Anastasia has an admirer that is out to destroy the man she loves, and that puts her in a new situation where she knows that she needs Christian to be safe.
Anastasia is no longer looked at as Christian's sub, nor is Christian looked at as Ana's dom. Christian is beginning to be able to open up to Ana more, both emotionally, and physically. Changing roles from a dominant to just someone in a loving relationship takes a lot out of a person and in this film we get to see the changes Christian goes through.
In this film we are introduced to Mrs. Robinson, Jack Hyde and Leila, three characters who will continue to morph the storyline as the trilogy comes to an end next year.
Each of these new characters don't just wind up affecting one of the main characters lives, but both of them.
This erotic drama knows how to keep your heart pumping through the sex, danger, and near-death experiences.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is sure to satisfy you in more ways than one.
