The hype has finally simmered over the new installment in the Fifty Shades Trilogy. The real question is: was the hype met? As someone who has solely watched the movies ( the books are always better), I would say that the hype was met, yes, but unexpectedly. We all were expecting more sex than the first (if that is possible), but we were met with more of a storyline and less of a porno than many anticipated.
I think it was nice, though.
Christian and Anastasia were able to develop more of a relationship and less of a sex addiction. They captured more of his family and allowed some openness to their lives. The best part of the movie was the jokes and tests of Christians dominance, like when Ana pays the bill. The quirky girl surely got herself into quick a pickle. The effects of the masquerade ball were really well done, but the inclusion of Leila was something that really captured a darker past of Christian which allowed fans to see the darker part of Fifty Shades Darker.
Overall, this film is a good film for those of us who enjoy new-age romance and a little bit of kink in the bedroom. I doubt there are many guys sitting in the theaters though.
