That Fifth Week of School Slump

The fifth week of school is already upon us. Midterms are coming, if they haven’t already, it’s finally fall and it time to start gearing up for Halloween! The first few weeks of school were great, we were all getting back into the swing of things, classes weren’t too hard, everyone was getting out there and trying new things. And now it’s the fifth week...and suddenly life and school is much harder. So here are five things that happen in that fifth week of school slump.

1. Personal hygiene goes out the window.

Generally, you’ve already met everyone in your classes, by the fifth week life get’s a little hectic and personal hygiene tends to be the first thing to go, just because other things come first.

2. Your bloodstream is ninety percent caffeine.

I’m not going to lie there have been days during the semester when I’ve had three or four cups of coffee in a five hour time span. Not healthy I know. But when you have three tests, a presentation and a ton of homework, consisting primarily of caffeine isn’t the worst thing to happen.

3. You start eating all the junk food.

Eating healthy and cooking for yourself is hard and time consuming. Plus who has time to go the grocery store and actually buy vegetables? Sometimes it’s just easier to order in and let your stress eat away at the calories.

4. Sleep is just a concept.

Sleeping well is great. Your body needs to sleep, it's the best way to recuperate at the end of the day. But the fifth week usually finds me staying up way too late studying (or let's be honest, watching Netflix.)

5. Your motivation completely disappears.

Midterms are hitting or are about to hit and you will feel like doing nothing but sitting in your sweatpants and eating nothing but Andes mints and salt and vinegar chips. It happens.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
