I'm quite ill at the moment, so I've been especially dependent on the fictional world for smiles. To make myself feel a bit better, and to perhaps share some smiles with you, I've made a list of the characters I've been leaning on the most the past few days or so.
1. Bart Simpson ("The Simpsons")
"Eat my shorts!"
2. Atticus Finch ("To Kill A Mockingbird")
"You rarely win, but sometimes you do."
3. Winnie the Pooh ("Winnie-the-Pooh")
"If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever."
4. Donkey ("Shrek")
"I like that boulder. That is a nice boulder."
5. Duckie Dale ("Pretty in Pink")
"May I admire you again today?"
6. Kermit the Frog ("The Muppets")
"When you decide what your Big Dream is, you'll be bursting with enthusiasm and want to share it with everybody. Most everybody will give you one of those 'OK, that's nice, now please pass the ketchup' looks. Some will scoff, suggesting that whatever your Big Dream is, it's too big for you. And a select few will whisper words of encouragement. My advice is this: Pass the ketchup. Ignore the scoffers. And remember those words of encouragement 'cause they're the only ones that matter."
