We have an almighty, wonderful, and powerful God who has blessed each one of us with this thing called life. Beyond creating the moon and stars, God has created a life that has brought joy, sorrow, hope, creation and most importantly, love.
He has brought us together with the bestest of friends, family and lovers we ever could hope for. He gives us the hope to wake up in the morning for a new day that will replenish us with his love and grace.
In 2 Corinthians 5.17-18, God says,
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation."
God says that every day is brand new and that through reconciliation, we can become a new person every day; we are forgiven of our sins and they don't haunt us anymore for the new day, is clean.
Every day, we have times in which life gets harder; we have a tire blowout, you get fired, your boyfriend breaks up with you, you spilled coffee all over that new, white dress or simple enough, you just had a bad day.
God tells us many different things every day to help us keep our heads higher.
Here's a few of my favorites:
1. Exodus 15.2 (Strength)
"The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation."
When you're having a crazy day, look to the Lord and he will provide you with the strength you need to take on whatever task is at hand.
2. Job 21.23 (Being Secure)
"One man dies in full vigor, completely secure and at ease, his body well nourished, his bone rich with marrow."
Even when you aren't feeling comfortable in your own skin; ever ounce of your body that pops off you and tells you you aren't good enough, Jesus will tell you you are good enough and will be secure in him.
3. Jeremiah 7.4-7 (Change)
"This is the temple of the Lord! If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever."
God tells us that if we just change our ways, mold into his being, that we will survive on this earth. We won't just survive, we will thrive!
4. Psalm 45.11 (Beauty)
"The King is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your Lord."
The version in The Message is also quite great.
"Be here--the king is wild for you. Since he's your Lord, adore him."
When you aren't quite feeling your prettiest, look to the Lord, for he will tell you how beautiful you really are. Praise him, for he will tell you of your beauty back.
5. John 8.42
"Jesus said to them "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here.""
He is here. He is ready to come into your life and turn your bad day around. With God, bad days aren't a thing. You can have a day that goes downhill, but if you look up to Jesus, it will change right away.
God is here and waiting for you to call out to him.
He will turn whatever sadness, sickness and misery you have into a joy you can use to praise his mighty name.
These verses aren't just here for you to read and wash by it. These verses are here to affect your everyday life and make you believe in something higher because the spirit of the Lord is here and working within each and every one of you, if you let me.
Access something greater.
Believe in yourself and believe in him.
Let him make your day better.
Proverbs 31.25 is the verse I read every day when I get up. It gives me the strength to believe in myself, even at my weakest points.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue."
You are strong. You have the strength of the biggest mountain that stands tall and doesn't move for anyone but themselves. You have the dignity of the mighty sword that fights for the name of God. You are capable of more than you know.
