A Few Extra To-Dos

The most important things you forgot to include in your list.

It's safe to say that school is in full swing, and life has never been busier. My only solution to trying to juggle all the hustle and bustle is by making a master to-do list (it is color coded and everything). However, it never fails that I forget a few important things each time I update my list. If you are like me, I took some time to write down a few of these top priorities that we often leave out of our to-dos.

TO-DO

1. Make to-do list

Wow, look at that! You already finished one thing. Cross that one off with pride!

2. Take a deep breath.

It looks overwhelming, but there is nothing on this list that is going to make or break your happiness. Take it one step at a time.

3. Spend time with Jesus.

Yes, studying for your nutrition test is important, but our whole motivation should come from The Word and God's promises. Don't forget to meditate on those promises, and pray when the day gets overwhelming.

4. Do your homework.

Seriously, just get it done now.

5. Check your email.

Don't just keep ignoring them. Tackle your inbox one annoying email after the other, and pretty soon you'll be all caught up.

6. Eat some dinner.

Go home and make yourself a nice dinner (even if it is just Ramen). You deserve at least thirty minutes of nothing but delicious carbohydrates each day.

7. Call your momma.

There is nothing that a phone call with mom can't fix. It seriously will put the two of you in such a great mood!

8. Go to the drugstore and get vitamins.

It's cold and flu season. Take care of yourself! And once you buy them, actually take them.

9. Text your Little and make lunch plans.

Odds are they're probably just as stressed as you. Go grab a coffee and catch up!

10. Get some sleep.

Call it quits for the night at one of your many pomping parties and actually get some shut eye. It will pay off tomorrow!

11. Don't worry about the things that go wrong.

Odds are, everything won't turn out 100% right. Don't get discouraged. Plan ahead, recoop, and do better next time.

12. Shower!!!

Dry shampoo can only help for a few days...

13. Listen to your favorite song on your way to work.

8:00 a.m. comes WAY too soon, but there's nothing that Closer by The Chainsmokers can't fix

14. Clean your dorm.

Stop piling everything on your desk and then moving it to your bed and then moving it back to your desk. Take some time to clean up and maybe even burn a new Scentsy (preferably pumpkin spice). It will make you feel better knowing that your space is tidy!

15. Enjoy the moment!

Don't get too overwhelmed and consumed with the contents of this list. Don't look at it for a few hours if you have to. Enjoy the things and people around you, and always remember that it's just a temporary list.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
