Sure, you can roll your eye's all you want but...

First and foremost, let's not confuse feminism with man-hating. This is so politically incorrect.

So often the term seems get's lost in translation and is incorrectly burned for the negative connotations our society has placed upon the term. For example, the man-hating, bra-burning spectacle many believe it to be. For those of you that do not know and believe feminism to be synonymous with “man-hating,” "Feminism by definition is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes,” as stated by Emma Watson in her UN speech on feminism. When speaking out on the topic of gender inequality, we are not solely focused on just the status of women, but we are also encouraging and empowering men to break free of gender roles and stereotypes as well.

While man-hating is just one misconception behind feminism, numerous individuals in contemporary, culture still believe feminism to be wrong due various reasons. Sure, it's easy to think negatively about a group or idea when you don't fully understand it, however, it is important to understand:

We are not "man-haters."

We are not all lesbians.

We are not sexist.

& We do not believe that women are better than men.

Oddly enough, this may still confuse some of you so let me put it this way and ask, do you believe that women should be paid the same for doing the same jobs? Do you believe that women should be allowed to leave the house? Do you think that women and men both deserve equal rights?

If you answered yes to any of these questions that means you stand for equality and rather you like it or not, you're a feminist. I'm sorry to tell you.

Be proud to be a feminist.

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
