So, let's talk about feminism. *Everyone runs* No, it doesn't have to be like that. I'm not sure why it is that this word has become something that so many people don't understand. Perhaps its radical movements that have actually attempted to re-define feminism.Perhaps it's that some fear the loss of gender roles and their standard 'baby-girl' pink and 'baby-boy' blue. Perhaps it's something else. But before you decide if you're a feminist or not (gentlemen, you CAN be feminists without switching genders), keep in mind that much of what you think you know about feminism could actually be completely false. The sad thing is that though we have come far with gender equality, we have not yet achieved gender equality on a national or global level. Within the past few years. issues like the gender pay gap, the 'she was asking for it' movement about sexual assault and other social issues shook us and made us aware that in 21st-Century America, we certainly do #needfeminism.

1. Myth: Feminism means being a man-hater.

Truth: Feminism seeks to achieve equality and gain equal rights for all people, no matter what their gender, sexual orientation, religion, racial background, social status or other classifying characteristics are.

2. Myth: Feminists are crazy, bra-burning, radicals

Truth: Feminists are people who care about equality, who are passionate about helping the world move forward with their understanding of the boundaries of strict gender roles and the patriarchy.

3. Myth: Feminism isn't for pretty girls

Fact: Feminism is for everyone, so that means it doesn't have a 'type' or woman or man. Feminism doesn't have a 'go-to' look. #yesallwomen are qualified to be considered a feminist.

4. Myth: Gender equality has already been achieved, we don't need to keep the movement alive

Fact: Feminism in the 21st century focuses on today's issues, including equal treatment, equal job opportunities, equal pay, adequate rights to maternity leave, gender equality and other issues. If equality was already achieved, none of these issues would exist.

5. Myth: Feminists are overly sexual

Truth: Feminists work to help achieve reproductive rights and sexual liberation, but the movement is not intended to make sexual choices for women, but rather prevent women from being judged and seen only for their sexual choices or for their choice to abstain from sex

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
