Strong Women

After reading an article on Refinery 29, of what five women feel about femininity I thought that I'd talk about it here with you guys. When you google femininity it says, "the quality of being female; womanliness". In an interview, Diana Veras said to Refinery 29, "Eff the dictionary of feminine, having qualities or appearance traditionally associated with women, especially delicacy and prettiness." Veras went on, "The word puts women in a box we don't necessarily need to be in. It should be about finding what makes you feel powerful, not about how gentle and delicate you are."

Refinery 29 also asked Diandra Forrest on what she thinks about femininity, " Femininity is strength, power, and having your own opinion. Unfortunately, people's perceptions of femininity have circled around the length of your hair, the curve of your body, and how much makeup you wear. But I think that's changing. I hope over time we aren't putting ourselves in categories as masculine or feminine."

Why should it matter if I look good and wear makeup? What should really matter is how smart and powerful I am. We judge people by their looks and instead of judging them for who they really are. That's what's wrong with our world today. Why must we classify each other, and put each other down when we should be raising each other up and throwing out positive energy into the air.

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
