How I Felt About 'Finding Dory'

This was a story of parents and their children.

How I Felt About 'Finding Dory'

After thirteen years of patiently waiting, “Finding Dory” has hit the theaters. The movie overall was great, but the meaning behind it was even greater. Finding Dory took you through another crazy journey across the ocean with Marlin, Dory, Nemo and other loved characters, but this time in search of Dory’s family.

Dory as most people know is a Blue Tang fish with short term memory loss. This makes Dory’s adventure even more beautiful. Dory is remembering tiny pieces about her family throughout the movie, giving her clues as to where to find them. These clues are hard to decipher for those who are not Dory, but she perseveres anyway. She fights to find her loving, caring and accepting family halfway across the ocean.

This movie is moving to people young and old. The movie is especially moving to those dealing with special needs. It is hard to live in a judgement society as it is. People constantly point out others flaws and make them feel bad for having them. This also happens in the film, “Finding Dory.” But this does not stop Dory, just like it does not stop children with special needs, or their families.

One of the main things I took away from this movie, is the undying love that a parent has for their children. No matter what, a parent loves their child. This is proven throughout Dory’s many flashbacks to her youth. Her parents never once put her down, but rather encouraged her.

This is something that all parents today need to try. Yes, it is easy to be frustrated with your children, but your frustration will only make them feel bad. Dory’s parents in the movie portray an unconditional positive regard for everything Dory did. Of course she forgot things, her parents knew it was bound to happen, but this did not stop them from helping her reach her full potential.

While, there are a lot of critics of the movie, I would have to say it was one of my favorites. I loved watching the story of a character I grew up loving looking for her family. This movie gave me nostalgia as I watched my favorites characters on screen after what felt like a lifetime. This movie also has an incredible message behind it.

The message was strong and easy to be read. Parents will always have an unconditional love and affection for their children. Parents do not give up on their children even when the going gets rough. And parents certainly never hold on to a mistake that their children made.

I would recomend people of all ages to see this Pixar film. Children will love the fun adventures of the blue fish Dory going to find her family. Teens and young adults will learn to appreciate their parents more, and all that they do for them. Parents and grandparents will appreciate the love they have for their children. The movie has something for everyone and will hit home for many.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
