Cat vs. Dog: the two animal species who are said to not get along. However, some households have proven this statement to be false. Contribution to the household environment and/or the personality of both the cat and the dog can make for a pretty cool duo. Sure they'll play together like they hate each other but it's all in the joy of entertaining themselves while waiting for their humans to come home and show them attention. For some they are only cat people and for others they are only dog people, somehow despising the other genre of pet. However, the world is graced with those rare people called animal lovers who takes in all sorts of animals, mainly having both cat and dog pets. Here are some differences between dogs and cats.
Feeding
Cats: They basically eat whenever they want. You can just leave their food out and they'll get to it whenever. Plus they don't beg for food.
Dogs: Most people feed their dog two-three times a day, and it's important to try and feed your dog on a schedule. Be careful not to feed your dog your food while you're eating or else they'll think it will happen every time and start to beg for food.
Toys
Cats: When kittens they will play with their toys like any other species of babies. Rat looking toys can help train your cat to catch your pest problem. Putting cat nip on scratching posts can encourage your animal to not scratch up the furniture. Older cats will not need toys to be entertained.
Dogs: Puppies love their toys and will tear it up within days. Toys are essential when trying to teach your dog not to eat your important items within your household, so make sure everything is picked up and put into place so this occurrence will not happen as often. Dogs have such happy souls and even older dogs like playing with toys here or there.
Bathroom
Cats: They are self-sufficient with going to the bathroom either in the litter box or outside, it's their instincts. So you don't have to worry about training them!
Dogs: Training your puppy can be a difficult mission, but with patience you can do it! Owners have to train them to hold their bladder and how to give you signals when they want to go out. Some people use pee pads or kennel train their pups.
Exercise
Cats: Minimum amount of effort is put in because they are so laid back. Basically they'll jump around or no effort at all and just take cat naps all day.
Dogs: Walk them and play fetch or else they'll get grumpy. Depending on the breed and the age of the dog determines their willingness to exercise. It's always good to walk your dog at least once a day for 30 minutes to an hour, this way they don't get fat and will nap for a good amount of time.
So why are cats better?
"Cats are definitely better than dogs because they're so low maintenance. If you have to leave for 12 hours at a time a cat doesn't care! Plus, they're smarter."- Zoie Hunt
