Your Feelings About The End Of The Semester As Told By "New Girl"

My fellow classmates the end is near. Don't stop reading yet; I'm not some weird survivalist trying to tell you about the end of the world. Winter is no longer coming, but instead leaving (I hope). Yes my friends, in only 20 days classes will be over. We will be free from unnecessarily long labs and horrid 7:30 lectures for a whole summer. Of course we have finals week but lets not mix good news with bad news. I'm sure you are all excited, sad, and stressed for the end of the semester to arrive. However instead of myself explaining how we're all feeling about the light at the end of the tunnel, I'm going to let the cast of "New Girl" explain.

1. Being super excited to wear clothes other than Eskimo suits to class because the Earth is finally warming up again.

While your choice of warm weather clothing may be a bit different from Schmidt's, there is nothing better than wearing shorts and tanks to class and leaving your bulky winter coat at home.

2. Feeling overly excited that you won't have to learn for a while.

Until you remember that you will eventually have to go back.

3. Having no regrets about anything.

The last three homework assignments you didn't do? Whoops. The semester is over and you tried your best and that's all that matters, right?

4. When the professor says the final is going to be all multiple choice and have less questions than you originally thought.

Looks like you'll have more time to watch Netflix.

5. Sitting in a final exam review and wondering when you learned any of this.

6. When your classes end and you suddenly have so much more time for lunch.

Where was this free time hiding all semester long?

7. The realization that you've done well enough in the class up to this point so you don't have to try that hard on the final.

8. Live footage of you preparing for finals where your grade going into the exam isn't all that great.

Trying to stay positive is harder than it looks.

9. When you remember you have an internship this summer and won't have a lot of time for beach trips and parties so you're basically an adult now.

10. When some people from your class ask you to study for the final with them.

You probably shouldn't say no because what if they're all really smart. Plus it might be about time you start making friends.

11. Thinking about leaving your friends who live in different states has got you in the feels.

12. When someone asks if you feel prepared for your finals.

The answer to that is a hard no.

13. Overall though, you're pretty excited and relieved that the year is coming to an end.

If you've ever wanted to be in New Girl, congrats! You basically are since you share feelings with the cast and all. Don't let finals get you down, it's almost summer. Plus you're all intelligent people so I know you'll rock your finals.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
