Logan Paul decided the best way to celebrate the approaching New Year was to post a vlog on his Youtube channel.

No big deal, right? Wrong.

But before I dive into the details of the vlog, some of you may be wondering, who in the world is Logan Paul?

Logan Paul is an American vlogger, whose fame is much credited to his videos posted to Vine. As of 2015, he was ranked as the 10th most influential figure on Vine, with his videos earning him thousands of dollars in advertising revenue. In fact, according to"Forbes," Paul earns $80,000 for sponsored content on Instagram and $150,000 per Facebook post. From the time of his first Vine videos, Paul quickly rose to internet fame.

Now, back to the details of the vlog. On December 31, 2017, Logan Paul posted a vlog to his YouTube channel titled "We found a body in the Japanese Suicide Forest... ", where he and a group of friends explored Japan's Aokigahara forest, which has become internationally known for being one of the most popular suicide sites in the world. For a more in-depth explanation of Aokigahara, I recommend watching this short documentary by "Vice." While adventuring in the forest, Paul showed the body of a man who had recently taken his own life, hanging from a tree, he then proceeded to laugh.

So many emotions ran through me upon witnessing this video: rage, sadness, disbelief, but most of all, I felt disgusted. Paul explains during his vlog that this exploration into Aokigahara was all meant to be a joke. This is the part where my confusion sky-rocketed. Please explain to me how going to the suicide forest and mocking it is funny. Go ahead, I'll wait. This is a place where countless tortured souls ended their lives after deciding that they had nothing worth living for, yet Logan Paul used this as, dare I say "clickbait," to exploit the heartbreak of these victims, lingering in the woods for sometime after discovering the man's body to give himself more content for his vlog.

Besides the fact that the vlog was originally intended to be a joke, Logan Paul also deemed it appropriate to show the body of the man who had just hanged himself, and I think that is what I find most heartbreaking. For someone to think it is right to not only continuing filming the poor man but to then publish to Youtube for the whole world to see is absolutely asinine. The man was someone's son or father or brother, he was somebody. He was someone who felt so deeply that his life was no longer worth living that he killed himself, and I am sickened to the core that he was blatantly disrespected by anyone, let alone an internet superstar.

The video was quickly removed and Paul has since apologized, although he did decide to monetize his apology video. I find some things rather difficult to look past and apparently so do many others, as the backlash quickly spread like wildfire.

So Logan, if you are reading this, I hope you've learned your lesson.

And I hope that you never ever have to feel the pain that that man, as well as all the other victims of the forest, felt. And despite all the pain that you've inflicted, it's you I feel sorry for. Sorry that you chose to use your media platform to do this. Sorry that you have been so ill-informed about what mental illness truly is. But mostly, sorry that you have been so blinded by fame and fortune that you've lost all touch with your humanity.

Because once your humanity is compromised, what do you really have left?

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
